Partner Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) has launched TeraSpinTec, a new start-up commercialising a spin emitter developed through work related to s-Nebula

Spin-based THz devices go to the market. Our consortium member FUB has launched TeraSpinTec, a spin-off company selling spin-based THz emitters with record performances. The work carried out within the framework of s-Nebula has made it possible to develop this extremely innovative emitter.

The spintronic terahertz (THz) emitter is based on an optimized metallic thin-film stack that includes spintronic materials. Upon illumination by a femtosecond pump pulse, a terahertz pulse is generated. The THz band-width covers frequencies from 0.1 up to 30 THz without any spectral gaps. The emitter is fully passive including an integrated magnet design that allows easy and full control over the linear terahertz polarization.

The T-Spin1 emitter:

  • Mounted inside a 360° rotation mount for flexible adjustment of the terahertz polarization.
  • Free aperture of 6.3 mm
  • Numerical aperture of 0.7
